Some of the region’s brightest young leaders have gathered to collaborate, connect, and discuss the concerns within Geraldton at the inaugural young leaders’ breakfast.
Hosted by Member for Geraldton Kirrilee Warr MLA, the morning on Thursday, April 30 invited the young leaders from Geraldton’s secondary schools, as well as members from the Geraldton Electorate Youth Advisory Council, to discuss the issues that matter to them.
“Part of my role as an elected member is to listen to the needs of the community, which includes our young people,” Ms Warr said.
“These students are already leaders within the community, and their knowledge and perspectives are valued.”
Discussions included what leadership means, what young people love about Geraldton, what they would change, and what community means to them.
Ms Warr said it was important to pass on her knowledge to the next generation to assist them on their leadership journey.
“Empowering our youth has been something I’ve wanted to do since being elected into this role and I’m proud to pass on whatever knowledge I can to help them,” she said.
“I’m hoping I can play a role in helping the next generation to step up and become leaders in the community.”
