Member for Geraldton Kirrilee Warr MLA is hoping to recognise outstanding local groups, unveiling her Local Champions Fund.
The fund aims to provide funding to local organisations who add to the community and help build strong local connections.
Ms Warr said it allowed people explore avenues to continue to serve the community.
“Geraldton is full of people who are willing to pull up their sleeves and help out: it’s in our DNA,” she said.
“I want the chance to help those who help their communities, no matter how big or small.”
Through the Local Champions Fund, grants of up to $250 are available, with organisations able to convey what they hope the money can be used for.
Organisations include, but are not limited to sporting clubs, community groups, and not for-profits within the Geraldton electorate.
Ms Warr encouraged groups to apply, saying all applications would be considered.
“Maybe your team is looking to get new shirts for the upcoming season, or maybe the barbecue has broken down leaving your club without an asset,” she said.
“No matter the reason, I encourage groups who are seeking the funding to apply.
“I look forward to hearing from you.”
Applications for the Local Champions Fund will be open until Friday October 17 at 4pm.
