The following comments are attributable to Member for Geraldton Kirrilee Warr MLA regarding the new youth justice support programs announced for Geraldton:
“I welcome the announcement of these programs commencing in Geraldton, but it’s important to understand this is only part of the puzzle to solving crime here,” Ms Warr said.
“The Nationals WA took policy to the State Election targeting crime at the source through prevention strategies, and it’s a positive that the State Government is taking steps here in Geraldton.
“However, a whole system approach is needed in order to solve the issue of crime in Geraldton, from police, to the justice system, and all other relevant portfolios.
“This includes putting in place the proper support in our prisons to ensure people can properly rehabilitate and integrate back into society.”
